The Third Candle of Advent (this is the pink candle), is called the Shepherd’s Candle, and represents the joy felt at the birth of our Lord, as well as the joy we have in anticipation of His return.
This Sunday December 15th the Third Sunday of Advent the sermon title is Smack Dab in the Middle. The scripture is John 20:24-29.
The central message is about how the birth of Jesus occurred in the middle of a history that had been hoping for Him, but didn’t really expect him.
In addition, Jesus arrived in the middle of a world mess. It is similar to today: the birth of Jesus occurs in the middle of all that is going on–perhaps too much.
This Sunday October 27th the Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost, the Sermon title is Canyonlands and Arches – Faith and Perseverance. The scripture is James 1:2-4.

The sermon will employ a theme of HOPE
It will use as themes, those expressed by the Randy Travis song, “Don’t Ever Sell Your Saddle,” and the poem by Glen Enloe with the same title (but different words).
This Sunday October 13th, the Twentieth-first Sunday after Pentecost, the Sermon title is Faith in Action: The Power of Agape Love. The scripture is James 2:1-10; 14-17.
The sermon for this coming Sunday will be given by Baker Bachman.
Baker is a seminary student in Atlanta. The sermon is a requirement for his path to ordination.
I knew him as being involved at the Wesley Foundation; and I think highly of him.
This Sunday October 6th, the sermon is about understanding the Bible, in spite of difficult passages that may be hard to understand.
Someone once said to Mark Twain that he was troubled about parts of the Bible that he didn’t understand.
Mark Twain replied that he wasn’t troubled by the parts that were hard to understand. Instead, it was the parts that he did understand that gave him the most trouble!
