Palm Sunday

Jesus entered the Jerusalem in triumph, part of his journey to the cross.

Palm Sunday, also known as Passion Sunday, marks the beginning of Holy Week and the suffering of Jesus. It’s the final Sunday of Lent and the Sunday before Easter.

This is the day on which Jesus entered the Jerusalem in triumph, but as a part of his journey to the cross; this is the week in which the crowd’s cries of “Hosanna!” would soon turn to “Crucify him!”

One helpful approach to Palm Sunday worship is to focus first on the procession into Jerusalem and then concentrate on the suffering and passion of Jesus.

Fifth Sunday in Lent

This Sunday March 22nd is the Fifth Sunday in Lent. The Sermon topic is the redemption road – the road that leads us toward the cross, resurrection, and into the whole world.

The scripture is Ezekiel 37:1-14. In the message I plan to use other supporting verses like Psalm 130 and Romans 8:6-11.

We are approaching Holy Week and I think it’s important for us to begin to prepare our hearts for the journey ahead of us.

Hope to see you at worship this Sunday.

Fourth Sunday in Lent

This Sunday March 15th is the Fourth Sunday in Lent. The sermon title for Kedron is Transformational Relationship. The scripture is 1 Peter 4:10. Our guest preacher is Gary Smith.

In the United Methodist Church, the “Fourth Sunday of Lent” is also known as “Laetare Sunday,” which means “Rejoice” in Latin, signifying a day of slightly more joyful celebration during the otherwise penitential season of Lent, marking the halfway point between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday..

Third Sunday in Lent

This Sunday March 8th is Third Sunday in Lent. The sermon title for Kedron is Power for Living. The scripture is 2 Corinthians 12:9. Our guest preacher is Gary Smith.

In the United Methodist Church (UMC), the “Third Sunday of Lent” marks the middle point of the Lenten season, often focusing on the story of Jesus encountering the Samaritan woman at the well, serving as a reminder to reflect on our own spiritual thirst and need for renewal, while also highlighting the importance of reaching out to others with God’s love; it’s often considered a time to re-evaluate one’s faith and commitment to living a Christian life.
