This Sunday June 1st the Seventh Sunday of Easter the sermon title is Wait for it…! The scripture is Isaiah 40:28-31.
The sermon will be based on an idea that came up in Sunday School is past Sunday.
It occurred to me that if Judas had simply waited until Sunday after the crucifixion, he would have seen the ultimate result of his selling information to the Chief Priests.
This Sunday May 25th the Sixth Sunday of Easter the sermon title is Making Lemonade. The scripture is Acts 14:1-7.
Perhaps you remember the old phrase, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”
The scripture is taken from the Book of Acts, chapter 14, the first 7 verses (Acts 14:1-7).
It concerns just one of many times Paul was turned away, only to go somewhere else to preach the Gospel. This kind of thing happens in our lives, also.
This Sunday May 18th the Fifth Sunday of Easter the sermon title is Drunks, Innocents, and the Foolish. The scripture is Roman’s 2:1-4.
This is a lesson on God’s Prevenient Grace, where we know God’s Grace is extended to all, wooing and convincing us to have a relationship with him.
It’s taking it a step further in saying that God also protects us in times of danger, even when we often create the situation, giving us every opportunity to accept his invitation.
This Sunday Mother’s Day May 11th the Fourth Sunday of Easter the sermon title is The best thing my mother ever said….. The scriptures are Ruth 1:16-14 and John 19:25b-27.
The theme, obviously, will be appropriate for Mother’s Day.
Easter, the celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead, signifying victory over sin and death. It’s a time of hope and renewal, rooted in the belief that Jesus’ death on the cross and subsequent resurrection offer forgiveness and eternal life. Easter serves as a reminder of God’s love and the promise of a new beginning.
This Sunday April 20th Easter Sunday the sermon title is From Bukharin to Brezhnev. The scripture is Matthew 28:1-10.
Also, I hope to see some the Maundy Thursday Service @ 6:30 pm.
Christ’s “mandate” is commemorated on Maundy Thursday. “Maundy” is a shortened form of mandatum a Latin word that means “command.” This word appears in John 13:34 of the Latin translation of the Bible (The Vulgate). It was on the Thursday of Christ’s final week. He ate His final meal with the Disciples on that evening and then went to the nearby Garden of Gethsemane for prayer. It was there He was arrested. His crucifixion happened the next day. John , in his reporting of “The Last Supper” recorded Jesus as saying, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” (John 13:34)
Join us April 17th for Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 pm. The message is the Garden Party. The scripture is Luke 22:14-23
